A little history

Yeovil was the glove-making capital of England for centuries — at its peak producing millions of pairs annually. The Fleet Air Arm Museum at nearby RNAS Yeovilton is the world's largest naval aviation museum, including Concorde. Montacute House — a perfect Elizabethan H-plan mansion — is one of the NT's finest properties.

Local tip

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is genuinely excellent — the aircraft collection is outstanding. Montacute House is magnificent. The town centre for local Somerset shopping and food.
