A little history

Oscar Wilde wrote The Importance of Being Earnest while staying in Worthing in 1894 — he named the main character Ernest Worthing in tribute to the town. The pier is one of the South Coast's finest. The town has a growing independent food scene and arts culture.

Local tip

The Worthing Museum is free and excellent. The pier for the classic seaside experience. The town centre for improving independent food. The West Beach and Goring-by-Sea for the best beach stretches.
