A little history

Blenheim Palace — built 1705-22 for the Duke of Marlborough as a gift from the nation — is the only non-royal palace in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Winston Churchill was born here in 1874. The palace and Capability Brown's park are extraordinary. Woodstock is one of the most beautiful small towns in Oxfordshire.

Local tip

Blenheim Palace is genuinely magnificent — the state rooms, the park and the gardens are outstanding. The Churchill birthplace room. The town centre for excellent independent food. The park walk (free).
