A little history

George III bathed here in 1789, triggering the Georgian resort boom. The seafront is exceptional — a continuous Georgian terrace facing the sea. Weymouth hosted the sailing events of the London 2012 Olympics.

The Old Harbour for independent restaurants and fish and chips. The Georgian seafront at dawn or dusk. Chesil Beach is extraordinary — 18 miles of pebble ridge. The ferry to Portland.
