About Wadebridge

Known for

The Camel Trail (the finest cycling trail in the South West, 18 miles to Padstow), the Bridge on Wool (the medieval bridge built on bales of wool), and a North Cornwall town at the heart of the Camel Estuary

A little history

Wadebridge's medieval bridge — one of the longest in Cornwall — was reputedly founded on bales of wool. The town sits at the head of the Camel Estuary. The Camel Trail — running along the old railway line to Padstow and Bodmin — is the most popular cycling trail in the South West.

Local tip

The Camel Trail to Padstow is genuinely outstanding — 5 miles of beautiful estuary cycling. The medieval bridge for the wool story. The town centre for independent food. The Royal Cornwall Show at Wadebridge (June).
