A little history

The Treaty of Uxbridge negotiations in 1645 — attempting to end the Civil War — failed, condemning England to further years of conflict. The Battle of Britain Operations Room at RAF Uxbridge (used in the famous 'Never in the field of human conflict' Churchill quote) is preserved. Brunel University is a significant local institution.

Local tip

The Battle of Britain Bunker at RAF Uxbridge is genuinely excellent and free. The Treaty House for the Civil War heritage. The town centre for good independent food.
