A little history

Tewkesbury Abbey — spared at the Dissolution because the townspeople bought it — has one of the finest Norman interiors in England and a magnificent tower. The Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471 effectively ended the Wars of the Roses, with the Lancastrian cause destroyed. The medieval street plan is virtually unchanged.
