A little history

Sir Francis Drake was born at Crowndale, near Tavistock, in around 1540. The town is a Dartmoor stannary town — tin and copper were assayed here. The Pannier Market is one of the finest in Devon. Tavistock is a Gateway to the western Dartmoor.

Local tip
