A little history

Skegness became a popular resort when the railway arrived in 1873. The Great Northern Railway's famous 'Skegness is So Bracing' Jolly Fisherman poster — designed in 1908 — became one of the most iconic railway posters ever produced. The resort has embraced its cheerful, unpretentious character.

Local tip

The Jolly Fisherman statue on the seafront. Natureland Seal Sanctuary is excellent. Fantasy Island for family fun. The beach is genuinely good and uncrowded off-season.
