A little history

Scunthorpe's steelworks — now operated by British Steel — has been producing steel since the 1890s and remains one of the largest integrated steel plants in the UK. The town grew entirely around steel. Normanby Hall Country Park provides beautiful parkland and a museum.

Local tip

Normanby Hall Country Park is excellent and free — the deer park and hall are outstanding. The steelworks heritage is significant. The town centre is regenerating.
