A little history

Ramsbottom grew as a cotton printing and dyeing town in the Irwell Valley. The East Lancashire Railway steam trains run through the town on their way between Bury and Rawtenstall. The town has developed an extraordinary independent food culture, disproportionate to its size.

Local tip

The East Lancashire Railway steam trains are excellent. The food scene is outstanding — one of the best small-town food destinations in the North West. Nutters Restaurant is nationally celebrated. The town centre for excellent independent food.
