A little history

Pontypool was an important ironmaking centre — the tinplate industry here was crucial to Welsh industrial history. Pontypool Park, the grounds of the Hanbury family's mansion, is one of the finest parks in the Valleys — with a shell grotto and Georgian ice house. The town has a proud community and cultural identity.
