A little history

Pershore Abbey — what remains of it — is one of the finest examples of Norman and Early English architecture in the Midlands. The Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 1530s destroyed much of it, but the surviving chancel is extraordinary. Pershore plums, grown in the Vale of Evesham, have been cultivated here for centuries.

Local tip

The Abbey is magnificent and free. The plum orchards in blossom (April) are extraordinary. The Thursday market for Vale of Evesham produce — asparagus and plums in season. The Bridge Street for independent shops.
