A little history

Palmers Green developed as an Edwardian suburb. The area has a strong Greek-Cypriot community and one of London's best concentrations of Turkish and Greek-Cypriot food. Stevie Smith — the poet — lived in Palmers Green from age 3 until her death in 1971, calling it 'Bottle Green' in her poems.

Local tip

The Turkish and Greek-Cypriot restaurants on Green Lanes are outstanding — some of London's finest. Broomfield Park for a beautiful Edwardian park. The Stevie Smith connection is celebrated locally.
