Old Oswestry Hillfort — one of the finest Iron Age hillforts in Britain, with elaborate concentric ramparts — dates from around 800 BC. The town itself has medieval walls and a long history as a border market town. The Cambrian Heritage Railways preserve steam and diesel traction.
