A little history

Mountain Ash grew rapidly with the opening of the Deep Duffryn and Nixon's Navigation collieries. The town's Welsh name — Aberpennar — reflects its position at the mouth of the Pennar stream. The valleys community has maintained strong Welsh language culture and choral traditions.
