A little history

Morpeth has been the county town of Northumberland since medieval times. The Chantry on the bridge houses the Northumbrian Craft Centre and the National Bagpipe Collection — the spiritual home of Northumbrian smallpipes. Emily Davison, the suffragette who threw herself under the King's horse at Epsom in 1913, was born here.
