About Moniaive

Known for

The Craigdarroch Arms (one of Scotland's most celebrated village pubs), the Green Man Festival, the Galloway landscape, and a small Dumfriesshire village of great community spirit

A little history

Moniaive is a tiny village in the Cairn Valley of Dumfriesshire. The Green Man Festival, held here annually, is one of Scotland's most celebrated acoustic and folk music festivals. The village has extraordinary community spirit and has won multiple awards for village life. Annie Laurie, the subject of the famous Scottish song, came from nearby.

Local tip

The Green Man Festival in July is genuinely special — intimate, beautiful and musically outstanding. The Craigdarroch Arms is an excellent village pub. The Cairn Valley walking is beautiful.
