A little history

Market Drayton has been famous for gingerbread since the 18th century — local schoolboys used to sell it at the market. Robert Clive — 'Clive of India', who established British India — was born here in 1725 and allegedly climbed the church tower as a boy. The Shropshire Union Canal passes through the town.
