A little history

Lochcarron village sits on the shores of Loch Carron — one of the most beautiful sea lochs in Scotland. The Lochcarron Weavers mill has been producing tartan here since 1984 and is one of Scotland's principal producers of authentic Highland textiles. The Bealach na Bà — the dramatic mountain pass to Applecross — is accessible from here.

Local tip

The Lochcarron Weavers visitor centre is fascinating — tartan production demonstrated. The Bealach na Bà over to Applecross is one of Scotland's greatest drives (not for the faint-hearted). The loch walk for extraordinary Highland scenery.
