About Littlehampton

Known for

The Beach (one of West Sussex's finest long sandy beaches), the East Beach Cafe (designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the world's longest bench), the River Arun estuary, and a popular West Sussex coastal resort

A little history

Littlehampton has been a seaside resort since the Victorian era. The East Beach Cafe (2007), designed by Thomas Heatherwick, won numerous architectural awards and features the world's longest bench — a sinuous rusted steel structure along the seafront. The River Arun estuary gives the town a beautiful harbour.

Local tip

The East Beach Cafe is genuinely extraordinary architecture — the world's longest bench is remarkable. The beach is excellent. The Arun estuary walk. The harbour for fresh fish and crab.
