A little history

Linlithgow Palace — begun by James I in the 15th century and completed by James V — was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots in 1542. The palace, now a magnificent shell after fire in 1746, stands on a promontory overlooking Linlithgow Loch. The town has been a royal burgh since 1138.
