A little history

Kelso Abbey, founded in 1128, was the wealthiest of the Border abbeys. The town square was described by Walter Scott as the most beautiful in Scotland. Floors Castle was built by William Adam in 1721.

Local tip

Floors Castle is extraordinary and open to visitors. The Abbey ruins are free and magnificent. The Square on a market day. The Tweed for the best salmon fishing in Scotland.
