A little history

Jarrow is the site of the twin monasteries of Wearmouth-Jarrow where the Venerable Bede lived and wrote in the 7th-8th centuries. The Jarrow March of 1936, when 200 unemployed men marched to London, defined the image of interwar working-class Britain.
