A little history

Ivybridge grew around the bridge over the Erme and expanded with the railway. The magnificent Brunel viaduct — one of several he built across Devon — carries the main line dramatically above the town. The town is an excellent gateway to the southern Dartmoor, with moorland walking accessible on foot.

Local tip

The viaduct is genuinely impressive — walk below it on the Erme Valley trail. Dartmoor National Park is walkable from the town. The Erme Valley for beautiful Devon walking. The town centre for local Devon shopping.
