A little history

Ilkley was a fashionable Victorian spa town — the hydropathic hotels on the slopes of the moor attracted the wealthy of the industrial north. The moor that gives Yorkshire its anthem stretches behind the town. Betty's Tea Room, the famous Yorkshire institution, has a branch here. The Cow and Calf Rocks are the moor's most distinctive landmark.

Local tip

Ilkley Moor is extraordinary — particularly the Cow and Calf Rocks for the views. Betty's Tea Room for the essential Yorkshire tea room experience (expect a queue). The Victorian town centre for excellent independent shops.
