A little history

Hyde grew as a cotton weaving town in the Tame Valley. Harold Shipman, Britain's most prolific serial killer, practiced as a GP in Hyde from 1977 to 1992. The town has worked to move beyond this association, emphasising its mill town heritage and Tame Valley setting.

Local tip
