A little history

RAF Hornchurch was one of the most important Battle of Britain sector stations — its Spitfires defended London in 1940. The airfield closed in 1962 but its history is celebrated locally. The Queen's Theatre is a well-regarded producing theatre. The suburb retains a distinct character with Emerson Park being particularly prosperous.
