A little history

DH Lawrence grew up in nearby Eastwood and the entire Erewash Valley — including Heanor — features throughout his novels. The mining communities of the area form the backdrop to Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow and Women in Love. The landscape Lawrence described is largely still recognisable.

Local tip
