A little history

Haverhill grew as a market town serving the Stour Valley agricultural community. Anne of Cleves — Henry VIII's 'Flanders Mare' — had estate connections to the area. The town has expanded rapidly in recent decades as a Cambridge overspill settlement.

Local tip

The Stour Valley walks are excellent. The market on Tuesdays and Saturdays for local produce. The surrounding villages have excellent independent food.
