A little history

Scotland's more permissive marriage laws allowed couples eloping from England to marry at Gretna Green from 1754. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop — where the blacksmith performed irregular marriages over the anvil — became the world's most famous wedding venue. Over 5,000 weddings still take place here annually.
