Grantown-on-Spey was designed and built by Sir James Grant in 1765 — one of Scotland's finest planned towns, with a central square and radiating streets. The town served as the commercial centre for Strathspey and is the gateway to the Cairngorms from the north.

The Spey for salmon fishing — one of Scotland's great rivers. The Cairngorms from Grantown give the widest perspective on the National Park. The town square is beautiful.
