A little history

The Eyemouth Disaster of 14 October 1881 killed 189 fishermen in a sudden storm — devastating the fishing community almost completely. The town rebuilt. The Eyemouth Tapestry, created in 1981, commemorates the centenary of the disaster.

Local tip

The Eyemouth Museum for the disaster tapestry — one of the most moving community art projects in Scotland. Gunsgreen House (a smuggler's mansion) for history. Fresh fish from the harbour.
