About Dursley

Known for

The Cotswold Way passing through, the Dursley Pedersen bicycle (a revolutionary Victorian design made here), Cam Peak and Stinchcombe Hill, and a small Gloucestershire market town beneath the Cotswold escarpment

A little history

Dursley's most famous export was the Pedersen bicycle — a revolutionary cantilever-framed bicycle designed by Mikael Pedersen and manufactured here from 1893. The Cotswold Way long-distance walk passes through the town. The town sits beneath the western Cotswold escarpment.

Local tip

Stinchcombe Hill above the town has extraordinary views over the Severn Vale — one of the Cotswolds' great viewpoints. Cam Peak for the walk. The town market. The Cotswold Way through the town for walking.
