About Drymen

Known for

The West Highland Way (the famous long-distance walk passes through), Loch Lomond gateway, the Clachan Inn (Scotland's oldest licensed pub), and a small Stirlingshire village of great charm and walking significance

A little history

The Clachan Inn in Drymen claims to be Scotland's oldest licensed pub, with a licence dating from 1734. The West Highland Way — Scotland's most popular long-distance walk — passes through the village on its route from Milngavie to Fort William. The village is a popular stopping point for walkers.

Local tip

The Clachan Inn is a genuine institution — a stop on the West Highland Way for generations of walkers. The West Highland Way walking stage from Drymen to Rowardennan along Loch Lomond is one of the finest. The village green is charming.
