Diss has one of the finest natural meres in England — a six-acre glacial lake in the town centre. John Betjeman described Diss as his favourite market town. The town sits exactly on the Norfolk-Suffolk border.

Local tip

The Mere is beautiful — walk the circuit and watch the wildlife. The Friday market is excellent for local produce. The Victorian town centre is well preserved.
