A little history

Diss has one of the finest natural meres in England — a six-acre glacial lake right in the town centre that gives it an extraordinary quality. John Betjeman described Diss as his favourite market town. The town sits exactly on the Norfolk-Suffolk border.

Local tip

The Mere is beautiful — walk the circuit and watch the wildlife. The Friday market is excellent for local Norfolk and Suffolk produce. The town centre Victorian buildings are well preserved. The Diss Museum for local history.
