About Dalmally

Known for

The gateway to Glen Orchy, Kilchurn Castle (one of Scotland's most photographed ruins), Loch Awe, the Cruachan Power Station (the hollow mountain), and a small Argyll village of extraordinary Highland setting

A little history

Dalmally sits at the foot of Glen Orchy where the River Orchy meets Loch Awe. Kilchurn Castle — the ruined Campbell fortress on Loch Awe — is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. The Cruachan Power Station, built inside Ben Cruachan, is one of the engineering wonders of Scotland.

Local tip

Kilchurn Castle at sunrise or sunset is extraordinary — genuinely one of Scotland's great photographs. Cruachan Power Station tours are fascinating — the turbine hall inside the mountain is surreal. Glen Orchy for spectacular driving and walking.
