A little history

Coupar Angus Abbey, founded in 1161 by Malcolm IV, was one of the most powerful Cistercian monasteries in Scotland — its abbots were among the most influential figures in medieval Scottish politics. The abbey was dissolved at the Reformation and its stones used to build the town. Strathmore Valley is Scotland's most fertile agricultural area.
