Known for

A little history

Corbridge sits at the site of Corstopitum — one of the most important Roman supply towns on the frontier, predating Hadrian's Wall itself. The Roman site museum contains extraordinary finds including the Corbridge Hoard and the Corbridge Lion. The village itself is one of the prettiest in Northumberland.

Local tip

The Corbridge Roman site is genuinely excellent and often quiet — the granaries and streets are extraordinary. The village itself has exceptional independent shops. The Angel Inn for a good Northumberland pub lunch. The Tyne walk from the village.
