A little history

A spa town that grew around chalybeate springs discovered in 1716. The Regency boom built the Promenade, Montpellier and Pittville — some of the finest neoclassical architecture in England. GCHQ is based here — Cheltenham's secret.

Local tip

The Promenade for independent shopping — better than the boutiques in Montpellier. The Suffolks for neighbourhood food. The January Festival for racing — the greatest four days in jump racing.
