About Carnlough

Known for

The Antrim Coast Road village (one of the most beautiful on the Causeway Coastal Route), the limestone harbour, Game of Thrones filming locations, and a small County Antrim village of extraordinary coastal beauty

A little history

Carnlough grew around the limestone quarrying industry — the distinctive white limestone was transported from the hills down to the harbour via a bridge (now a road bridge) built by the Marchioness of Londonderry in 1854. The village was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

Local tip

The harbour and limestone bridge are beautiful — one of the Antrim Coast's most photogenic spots. Game of Thrones fans will recognise the fountain in the village square (used as Braavos scenes). The coast road north towards Glenarm is stunning.
