A little history

Caerphilly Castle, begun in 1268, was the first truly concentric castle in Britain. The town grew in its shadow, and the castle still dominates every view.

Local tip

The castle is magnificent — the leaning tower leans more than Pisa's. The Big Cheese Festival in July is excellent.
