A little history

Buckie was one of the most important herring fishing ports on the Moray Firth — at its peak sending hundreds of boats to the summer herring fishing. The boatbuilding tradition was equally important. The Buckie Drifter Heritage Centre tells this extraordinary fishing story with a real steam drifter at its heart.

The Buckie Drifter Heritage Centre is excellent — the restored steam drifter is extraordinary. The Speyside Way coastal section from Buckie is one of the finest coastal walks in Moray. Local smoked fish from the harbour.
