About Brodick

Known for

The gateway to the Isle of Arran, Brodick Castle and Country Park, Goat Fell (Arran's highest peak), the Arran Distillery nearby, and the main village on Scotland's most accessible island

A little history

Brodick is the main settlement on the Isle of Arran and the arrival point for the ferry from Ardrossan. Brodick Castle — a Royal Castle since at least the 13th century — was the seat of the Dukes of Hamilton and is now managed by NTS. Goat Fell, rising dramatically behind the village, is Arran's highest point.

Local tip

Brodick Castle gardens in spring are extraordinary — rhododendrons and exotic plantings in a sheltered coastal setting. Goat Fell for the definitive Arran panorama. The Arran Distillery at Lochranza — a short drive north — is excellent.
