A little history

Bootle's docks were vital to Britain's survival in WWII — the Western Approaches Command that coordinated the Battle of the Atlantic was based here. As a result, Bootle suffered devastating bombing raids. The town has a fierce community identity distinct from Liverpool despite the boundary.

Local tip
