Known for

The finest Georgian town in Dorset (rebuilt after the 1731 fire), Hall and Woodhouse brewery (Badger Beer), the River Stour, and a Dorset market town of exceptional architectural unity

A little history

A catastrophic fire in 1731 destroyed most of Blandford. Local architects John and William Bastard rebuilt the entire town in unified Georgian style. Hall and Woodhouse, brewers of Badger Beer, have been here since 1777.

Local tip

The Market Place and Church are outstanding Georgian architecture. The Hall and Woodhouse brewery for Badger Beer. The Stour Valley walk. Wednesday and Saturday markets.
