A little history

Bicester sits near the Roman town of Alchester, one of the most important Roman settlements in Oxfordshire. The town grew as a market centre. Bicester Village, opened in 1995, transformed it into an international shopping destination.

Local tip

Bicester Village is genuinely excellent for designer brands at good prices — worth the visit if you know what you want. The old town market square away from the village for local character. The Cherwell Valley for walking.
