A little history

Barmouth's wooden railway viaduct — 800 metres long — has carried trains across the Mawddach estuary since 1867. John Ruskin called the Mawddach estuary sublime.

Local tip

The Mawddach Trail cycle path from Barmouth to Dolgellau is one of Wales's great rides. Walk across the viaduct on foot. The beach at low tide.
