About Ballycastle

Known for

The Ould Lammas Fair (Ireland's oldest fair), the Causeway Coast, Fair Head, Rathlin Island and a small Antrim market town with an extraordinary natural setting

A little history

The Ould Lammas Fair has been held every August Bank Holiday since the 17th century — Ireland's oldest commercial fair. Ballycastle is the ferry point for Rathlin Island, Northern Ireland's only inhabited offshore island.

Local tip

The Ould Lammas Fair in August is extraordinary — yellow man (a honeycomb toffee) and dulse (dried seaweed) are the traditional foods. Fair Head for vertiginous coastal views. The Rathlin Island ferry.
